About Us
Landcare is about working together caring for the land to preserve our natural resources and biodiversity for generations to come.
Landcare enables people to actively care for the natural environment in their community.
Every day in our Beaudesert Community there are people actively caring for their local environment in so many ways.
Landholders
- Plant native trees, shrubs and grasses to create habitat for native animals to improve biodiversity
- Care for the soils on their property to help prevent salinity and erosion
- Use energy and water-usage efficiencies, such as farming effluent recycling, sediment control and solar panel installation
- Get the community involved in restoring and protecting the local environment in their community, with planting days, weed and rubbish removal, installing bird nesting boxes and so much more.
- Work in partnership with local councils, natural resource management agencies, farming groups, business and industry and researchers
- Use sustainable agriculture practices to help maintain food security and care for the natural environment on their property
- Support the habitat of threatened species like the koala, platypus and native birds, from the impact of urban development.
- Community-led environmental projects protecting and restoring our land and water assets
- Rehabilitate degraded landscapes by planting trees to act as shelter for livestock and help support the growth of native grasses
- Host education programs and workshops to share knowledge, Landcare is about lifelong learning and connection to place
- Build fences to protect vegetation, livestock and keep out feral pests
- Bring people together from all walks of life to do something good for the environment.
1/5th of Queensland’s plant species can be found within the Scenic Rim Region. Mt Barney, Mt Lindsay and Mt Maroon as well other parts of the McPherson Ranges are places of significant biodiversity.
Within the Beaudesert Region flora and fauna abound. Most vegetation and wildlife habitats are found on private land. Therefore all landholders have a significant role to play in supporting the plants and animals within our region.
World Environment Day - Showcasing Local Producers
World Environment Day 2024 – ‘Taste and See’ Showcase Event
Beaudesert Landcare hosted a ‘taste and see’ event at THE CENTRE in Beaudesert on Wednesday the 5th of June for WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY –which showcased some of our local producers and their produce.
In 2022, Lonely Planet named The Scenic Rim as one of the world’s ‘hottest destinations’. Placing it 8th in the top 10 regions – and we live here.
Participants enjoyed the tasting tables with local cheeses, jam, coffee, fruit juice from Coco’s orchard and fresh produce from the Scenic Rim Farm Box and other displays of interest, including items from Boonah BOSS and a local jewellery maker who fashions items from broken and recycled porcelain.
Buying local provides positive outcomes for our future here in the Scenic Rim and our environment. Growing and buying here makes us sustainable and products don’t need to be transported by ship, plane or truck - a World Environment Day theme. This morning activity on World Environment Day, encouraged us all to think about our future and what it might look like if we ‘buy local and eat local’.
Our lucky door prize was won by Sarah (a Canungra local) - [Toiletries pack hand creams;$50 Scenic Rim Farm Box gift voucher].

Canungra Creek Rehabilitation Project
This project is a joint venture with the Scenic Rim Regional Council and Beaudesert Landcare. This community project came to fruition as a result of interested community members approaching Beaudesert Landcare for support, help and information. We distributed our Weed Brochure through ‘new residents’ scheme with support of our local member Scott Bucholtz.
A member of the community used the weed brochure to identify weeds along the creek and park area along Roxborough Street in the Finch Road Estate.
And the project began.........
